Dear Yavapai County Community,
A transformation is taking place inside America’s jails. Sheriff’s Offices from coast to coast are rejecting the old model of simply “doing time” and replacing it with something far more powerful: investing time. The National Sheriffs’ Association has built a framework for this shift, called I.G.N.I.T.E. — Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education.
I.G.N.I.T.E. is an evidence-based, national movement uniting Sheriff’s Offices in a shared commitment to change the culture of incarceration. By joining the movement, Yavapai County takes its place alongside leading nationwide agencies. This initiative expands on Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office’s already successful “Reach-Out” model that is being implemented alongside the jail in the Connections Center with the support of the Yavapai County Community Health Services. Sharing a belief that every person who walks through our doors deserves the opportunity to leave better than they arrived.
