GIS OpenData for Free

There are several ways to obtain GIS data from Yavapai County. Yavapai County offers a selection of GIS data free of charge on the Yavapai Open Data site; please review publicly shared data here https://data-yavgis.opendata.arcgis.com. For data not available on OpenData, here is a GIS price list(PDF, 272KB) for items are summarized and details are described in the Price List.   Payment options are outlined in detail in the GIS price list. Payment types accepted which include cash, personal check, bank cashier's check, and Visa or Master Card credit card payments through credit card Core BT payment center website for the GIS Department.

GIS Data Available for Purchase

The following Geographic Information System (GIS) data files are available for purchase. Files can be provided in ESRI File geodatabase, or Shapefile* formats, and in most cases could be converted to AutoCAD DWG or AutoCAD DXF.

Custom Data Files

Custom data files for all or part of the County are available. Fees for custom files are based upon the time required to extract and format the data to the customer’s specifications. See Pricing information. To obtain hard copy paper maps, please contact the Yavapai County GIS Department general number at 928-771-3169.

  • Topographic Data: 2ft Contours are available for some areas and can be purchased for $100 per square mile through our 2 Foot Limited Contour Request web application https://gis.yavapaiaz.gov/contourrequest, with Step-By-Step instructions(PDF, 255KB). If you need more than 1 square mile, you must make multiple requests.
  • liDAR Data: Associated to 2ft contours, the County may also have liDAR data. This data can be purchased for $100 per square mile (per tile which is about the same area as a section (Section-Township-Range from the Public Land Survey System). Yavapai County GIS does do not currently have a liDAR request application or the tile coverage that the County has collected yet. To view the available liDAR data, sometimes available from another party, visit the Arizona Geographic Information Council (AGIC) liDAR status map. LiDAR Status Map (arcgis.com).   • Government Organizations/contractors: Yavapai County GIS will provide GIS data free of charge to companies actively contracted with a government entity (federal, state, regional, county, local, tribal) upon verification. Verification by a government contact is required. Data previously purchased from Yavapai County is not eligible for refunds.
  • GIS Professionals: Access to many GIS data as a GIS Professional (or related professionals) could obtain this data by using professional GIS software, either licensed products or open-source software. We provide the County's data as web services that can be accessed through many different software products. The GIS department supports troubleshooting and instruction on the use of any GIS software products and how to use the County Web Services within the desktop software.   • Single User License(PDF, 47KB) If the above options are not applicable to you or your company, GIS data is available for purchase (see price list below). Please complete the Noncommercial Public Data Request Form. Scan or email to yavgis@yavapaiaz.gov. Choose your method of payment (check mailed to 1120 Commerce Drive Prescott, AZ 86305, or we can send you a link to pay by credit card). After payment is received, we will email instructions to download data from the County server.
  • Unrestricted Commercial(PDF, 47KB) GIS data for commercial purposes is available for purchase (see price list). The purchase of an Unrestricted Commercial Data Request includes a one-year entitlement to quarterly file updates (4 total data requests). Please review and complete the Commercial Public Data Request Form and scan or email to yavgis@yavapaiaz.gov. Choose your method of payment (check mailed to 1120 Commerce Drive Prescott, AZ 86305, or we can send you a link to pay by credit card). After payment is received, we will email instructions to download data from the County server.

The purchase of an Unrestricted Commercial Data Request includes a one-year entitlement to quarterly file updates (4 total data requests).

GIS SPATIAL STANDARD FORMATS *: File geodatabase, Shapefile, and AutoCAD drawing DWG or AutoCAD DXF.

GIS Map Requests

Before you request a map, consider using existing Web Maps to create and print your own map. Various static PDF maps such as Election Precincts, Legislative districts, School districts, and a limited Road Atlas which are listed towards the bottom of the mapping application page. http://www.yavapaiaz.gov/gis/gis-mapping-applications.

Basic Maps

GIS Department - Maximum of 2 maps per weekly request. More than 2 maps changes the price to a Specialty Map price (see below).

Specialty Projects

Specialty Maps are requests that will take some time to finish, County GIS staff charges $100 an hour (one hour minimum)*. It will be at the discretion of the County GIS staff if the map will be a specialty project or not. For example, a specialty map with aerial that took 1 hour would cost $125* ($100 for the hour, plus the cost of the 36 x 48 inches map with aerial). Specialty maps could include custom labeling, data manipulation, analytical, etc.

  • Miscellaneous Business = Same pricing structure mentioned above ($100/hour). *
  • Project for County = Free (A letter from the contractor or email from County Department
    requesting the data, stating the use, is required. Data must be destroyed once the
    project is complete.)
  • Government (city, state, college, non-profit, etc.) = One custom map per year is free,
    each map, thereafter, is charged the same price as above.
  • Bulk projects: Universities, other agencies = Whichever is of lesser cost to produce the
    work i.e. $100/hour or printing cost. *

Note: If an alternative method of charging is agreed upon between entity, YAVGIS, and the Board of Supervisors, then that agreed-upon price will be used. *
