The Customer Service and Permitting Unit of the Development Services Department is charged with the intake, processing and issuance of all permits for the unincorporated areas of Yavapai County. Permits for buildings, structures and grading are required in all of the unincorporated areas of Yavapai County. The size, type, use and value of a structure or project will determine the level of review required for the permit.
In 2001 the Board of Supervisors implemented a One Stop Permit Process to insure that permit reviews are coordinated with all County Departments, and that approved plans and permits meet all of the County’s requirements. This One Stop Permit Process is administered by the Development Services Customer Service and Permitting Unit Staff.
Permit applications need to be submitted through the CitizenServe Online Permit Portal. Permit Technicians are available 7:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday to answer your questions. Our offices are located at 1120 Commerce Drive in Prescott and 10 S. 6th Street in Cottonwood. Once your application is submitted a Permit Technician will review the application for completeness and contact you for additional information or payment. Once we receive all documents, and the initial payment, your application will begin the review process. Please allow a minimum of 10 to 15 days for permit processing. Alternate construction methods or commercial projects may require additional processing time.
