CAFMA Out of District Incident - Paulden

Published on November 12, 2024

The CAMFA Operations Chief and Assistant Chief have come up with a list of action items in response to a location that poses challenges for response coverage as it is out of the

CAFMA jurisdiction.

 We will continue monitoring social media and community forums, providing appropriate information as needed.

 We are replacing the signs in the Paulden area to remind residents that they may not be covered. Additionally, we will be adding a Spanish version of the signs to meet the needs of the local demographics.

 We are placing postcards at several locations within the Paulden area with information on how to annex or get a contract

o We will provide these in both English and Spanish.

 We aim to collaborate with the community to speak at an upcoming event in the Paulden area.

o We will work on educating the community about the possibility for renters to establish contracts.

o The cost for the annexation of some properties may be as low as $50 annually.

o We want to clarify that any property can be annexed into the CVFD, regardless of whether it borders the district.

 We will engage with our State Fire Associations and labor partners to explore opportunities for addressing this issue on a larger scale, both within our jurisdiction and at the state level.

 We will review our policy and gather input from other agencies to ensure we are responding with best practices in these areas.

o This issue may arise again in both CVFD and CYFD due to areas that have opted not to annex or enter into a contract.
