Board of Adjustments and Appeals

Authority A.R.S. § 11-816(B)(2) and amendment to Section 207 of the Planning and Zoning Ordinance. County Boards of Adjustment have the authority to “allow a variance from the terms of the zoning ordinance when, owing to peculiar conditions, a strict interpretation would cause unnecessary hardship, if in granting such variance the general intent and purpose of the zoning ordinance will be preserved.”

Meetings: Meets once a month if there is a variance or an appeal at 1015 Fair St. Prescott, Az 86305 or 10 S. 6th St. Cottonwood, Az. 86326, as posted.

Membership: 5 members, one from each Supervisorial District.

Term of Office: 4 years staggered terms.

Note: The Planning Unit requires adequate review times prior to placing a project on the schedule. All public hearing application filing fees are non-refundable regardless of approval or denial and must be paid at the time of application submittal. Public Hearing Application Fees are based on the complexity of the proposed use, acreage involved, and changes in density. Due to our current workloads, hearings and prior requests already in the queue, the average response time for the first review is within ten (10) days of submittal.
