Kirkland Fire: SET Status Lifted

The "SET" evacuation status has been lifted for the Kirkland Fire near Hillside and Yava, Arizona. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, in consultation with fire officials, determined the fire no longer poses an immediate threat to zones YCU-2105, YCU-2102, and YCU-2030.
Roadblocks on County Road 15 (Bagdad Road) are now open. Residents can return to normal activities.

SET Status Issued near Hillside & Yava: Residents Urged to be Prepared

The Kirkland Fire is burning northeast of Hillside, Arizona, approximately 2.5 miles northeast of Kirkland and east of Bagdad Road/County Road 15. The fire is estimated at around 750 acres and is moving northeast. YCSO has placed evacuation zones YCU‑2030, YCU‑2105, and YCU‑2102 in SET (pre‑evacuation) status, and County Road 15 is closed between mile markers 22 and 25.

Mechanical thinning beginning on the Bradshaw Ranger District

July 23, 2025- Contractors will begin working the mastication phase of the Evacuation Route Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project on the Bradshaw Ranger District no earlier than July 24, 2025. They will be using heavy equipment to masticate hazardous fuels within the approximately 240-acre area.

Final Juniper Fire Update

Firefighters utilized an uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) to check the fire perimeter for any residual hotspots. The Central West Zone Incident Management Team will transition the fire back to the local unit Wednesday, July 9. The Incident Management Team thanks the communities around the Juniper Fire for their patience and support.

The fire is burning in an extremely remote, inaccessible area of the Bradshaw Mountains. Pine Flats Area Back To Ready Status

Monsoon storms yesterday required fire crews to take protective actions to stay safe by disengaging from suppression activities. Priority is being placed to complete needed action to turn the fire over to the Prescott National Forest. Fire Crews are continuing the process of constructing control lines and suppression repair around the fire area.

Grapevine Fire Update: July 28

Minimal growth on the Grapevine Fire, sitting at 1,049 acres but still at 0% containment. Crews continue their work on control lines for the protection of repopulated communities.

Even without heavy smoke, there exists a potential for fire activity due to the heavy unburned fuels. Flames could be pushed outside of the interior by drying conditions and monsoon winds.

Yavapai County Institutes Countywide Fire Ban

On June 27, 2023, The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chairman, James Gregory, signed the Interim Fire Prohibition Order which prohibits the use of fireworks and implements Stage 1 Fire Restrictions across all four fire zones in Yavapai County. The effective date of the fire ban is June 29, 2023, at 8:00 AM.
