Monday, May 6, 2024 - Raymond Jacob Kosse has been convicted of Theft of Means of Transportation, Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement, Criminal Damage, and Criminal Trespass. This judgment comes following a 2022 incident in which the defendant crashed his vehicle twice, while attempting to flee police.

Tuesday, March 27, 2024 - On March 26, 2024, 59-year-old Dennis Evan Carraher was found guilty of Sexual Conduct with a Minor Under the Age of 12 and Molestation of a Child. Carraher was a family friend and used that relationship to gain access to the children, one of whom was only seven at the time.

Monday, March 11, 2024 - On February 12, 2024, Prescott resident Shannon Marie Jackson, 45, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for Manslaughter per Domestic Violence by Superior Court Judge Krista Carmen., following the shooting death of her boyfriend of several years on December 27, 2021.

Carman sentenced forty-eight-year-old Jonathan Paul Klein to ten years in prison for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Under the Age of Fifteen, followed by lifetime sex offender probation for a number of related offenses.

Friday, March 8, 2024 - On February 20, 2024, it was announced that Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Krista M. Carman sentenced 35-year-old James Robert Patton to eighteen years in prison for Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Burglary and two counts of Aggravated Assault.

Monday, February 26, 2024 - On February 16, 2024, James Byrn Siegfried, of Paulden AZ was found guilty of two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Misconduct Involving Weapons. The charges stem from a 2022 incident in which the 56-year-old followed a truck down Sweet Valley Road in Paulden. When the truck pulled over, Siegfried confronted the 2 occupants and pointed a loaded handgun at them.

Monday, February 26, 2024 - A Yavapai County Jury found Stanley Wilburn Smith, 66, guilty of ten counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor on February 23, 2024. The investigation began after Smith's girlfriend discovered large quantities of sexually explicit images on his phone and contacted police.

Tuesday, January 9, 2024 - On January 5th, 2024, James Robert Patton of Spring Valley was found guilty by jury of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Burglary, and two counts of Aggravated Assault, following an incident that occurred in the early morning of August 23, 2021.

Tuscon Man Convicted of Transportation of 40-Pounds of Methamphetamine in Yavapai County(PDF, 255KB)

Friday, November 17, 2023 - On Thursday, November 16, 2023, 32-year-old Abisai Urias of Tucson was found guilty of transporting 40 pounds of meth, as well as possession of anabolic steroids for sale, and possession of a firearm during a drug offense. Urias failed to appear at his trial and is being sought by law enforcement.

Thursday, November 9, 2023 - On November 8, 2023, a Yavapai County jury found 73-year-old James Halbert Hudson guilty of ten counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Under Fifteen Years of Age. Hudson was found guilty after a 2020 investigation which produced numerous downloaded images of child pornography on his computer.

Tuesday, November 7, 2023 - On October 30, 2023, forty-year-old California resident Bacilio Borquez was sentenced to 46 years in prison after he was found guilty by a Yavapai County jury of Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Sexual Assault of a fourteen-year-old minor.

Monday, November 6, 2023 - Prescott Valley resident David Lee Jones was found guilty of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Disorderly Conduct with a Deadly Weapon on November 2, 2023. The incident involved a parking space dispute at a fast-food restaurant, during which Jones pointed a firearm at the victim.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023 - On October 23, 2023, Mark A. Whittington was sentenced to 43.5 years in prison for Fraud Schemes, eight counts of Theft, and Contracting Without a License. Whittington targeted retired and elderly homeowners in the Quad City area, for whom he was contracted to do home remodeling and repairs.

Monday, October 9, 2023 - On October 6, 2023, Donovan Larriba-Tucker was found guilty of the First-Degree Murder of a 16-year-old Chino Valley High School student. The crime occurred on the night of June 29, 2018, when the victim was stabbed multiple times.

Wednesday, October 4, 2023 - Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane announces his office will aggressively prosecute organized retail theft, just one day after a Yavapai County jury found 47-year-old Eric Zelek Hoggs guilty of the crime. Hoggs was also found guilty on September 27, 2023, of several other crimes, including Criminal Impersonation and Possession or Use of Narcotic Drugs.

Wednesday, September 6, 2023 - On July 24, 2023, Randy Scott Young, 44, of Cottonwood, was found guilty of six counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and sentenced to 50 years in prison. Young was a teacher who coached girls' sports at a school in Cottonwood.

Wednesday, July 19, 2023 - Former Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk has been named the 2023 Distinguished Chief Prosecutor by the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA). Polk, who retired at the end of December 2022 after serving 22 years in her position, received the award on July 10 at the NDAA Summer Summit in Nashville, Tennessee.

Monday, September 14, 2020 - Arizona is experiencing a devastating increase of sellers and users of methamphetamine due to increased production of the drug and declining costs, according to a new report just released by the Arizona Substance Abuse Partnership (ASAP). Between 2015 to 2019, the retail price of meth decreased 58% while during the same period, federal, state, and local law enforcement saw a 342% increase in methamphetamine seizures.
