The Yavapai County Attorney’s Office welcomes students pursuing studies in criminal justice or related fields and citizens wanting to serve their community to explore internship and volunteer opportunities with us. Both are contingent upon passing a background check.
Internships
At YCAO, legal interns will work on real cases alongside an experienced YCAO mentor. Tasks can include: trial preparation, legal research, witness preparation, reviewing evidence, victim advocacy, and courtroom observations.
YCAO internships are often in conjunction with and for college course credit, and are unpaid positions designed to provide a student valuable experience and professional development. Internships must be a minimum of 3 months and applied for 60 days prior to anticipated start date to allow sufficient time for our legal department to process and Board of Supervisor approval. All materials related to course credit requirements must be provided with submission form.
Volunteering at YCAO is open to all citizens over the age of 18, and are unpaid positions, for those looking to serve their community and have a positive impact on our citizens. Tasks can include hearing notification, victim advocacy, document scanning, legal research, and trial preparation.
